The Holy Cow Project

Dear Family, Friends, and Passers-by,

HOLY COW! They let me into vet school! I am proud to announce that I have been accepted into Colorado State University’s Professional Veterinary Medicine Program.

I promised myself a long time ago that if I got accepted to vet school, I would do something outlandish.

Although it is difficult to get into vet school, I knew that the real work would begin after being accepted. Vet school is four years of hard work coupled with a huge financial commitment–you’d have to be nuts to try it!

To convince myself that crazy dreams really are possible, and to demonstrate my profound gratitude at being given the opportunity to go to vet school, I decided to do something that seemed impossible on behalf of someone else.

Thus, the Holy Cow Project was born. My goal was to raise $1,000 for each of seven animal-related charities, listed at right.

The timing, you’ll have to agree, was PERFECT–right after Christmas in the middle of a recession! 🙂 Heck, if I could succeed at this, surely I could make it through vet school, don’t you think?

So, did I make it?  Yes and no.  I did raise $7000, but because many chose to donate directly to the charity of their choice, the distribution among charities wasn’t completely even.  But I’m still pretty happy with that!

If you didn’t get a chance to help before, you still can.  Just choose one of the charities at right and make a donation directly to the charity of your choice!

Better yet, why not start your own Holy Cow Project to celebrate an event in your life?

From small stones, mighty bridges are built.

Thank you to everyone who contributed and made this a success!
